Speed skating open house at Legends Centre April 22

The Durham Speed Skating Club will be hosting an open house for anyone who wants to try the sport out on Saturday, April 22 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Legends Centre in Oshawa, 1661 Harmony Rd. N.

The club will provide the skates, so all you need to bring are a helmet and gloves, although you can also bring a neck guard and other protective equipment if available.

Head coach Darryl Rowsell and other club coaches and skaters will be there to provide instructions and answer any questions you may have.

The Durham Speed Skating Club has been operating in Oshawa since 2005 and produced at least one provincial champion every year between 2008 and 2016.

Canada has won 35 medals in speed skating at the Olympics, more than any other sport at the Winter Games.

E-mail to book your spot to for more information. There will be two sessions to choose from, beginning at 11 a.m. and 12 noon.
